Workshops and Spring Hafla Dance Party Spectacular May 3rd - 4th, 2008
Join us for an enchanting dance and music party under the stars!
This will be a house party at a picturesque home in Goodyear with live music, showcase dance performances, and lots of dancing for hafla attendees. Featuring Moroccan music-maker Rachid Halihal on oud, violin and soulful vocals, and a rocking primal percussion section led by Souhail Kaspar, we’ll be ready to rock the house! We’ll have some surprise musicians, both local and otherwise, and featured dance performances by the sensational Helena Vlahos, the sublime Carrie Konyha, the lovely Lara Kymana and 2008 Egyptian Bellydancer of the Universe Amanda Rose.
We will be providing food and grownup beverages, but welcome you to bring your own specialties. Bring some wine and a tasty snack, some cash for shopping with our fabulous vendors, and your best party gear! Vending by Fashionable Movement, Anaya Tribal, Art Thou Glorious and Rosebud Creations, and the artists's CD's and educational materials will be available.
Party starts around 7pm (fashionably late or early is okay) with a drum jam from about 7-8pm and music and dancing from about 8:30 till whenever.

Souhail received a 2008 Grammy nomination in Traditional World Music for his work with Rahim Alhaj in their album "When the Soul is Settled: Music of Iraq."
The album is available through Souhail's website, if you wish to purchase it. The music is absolutely breathtaking.

Midnight Caravan weekend was a wonderful success, with participants coming from Nevada, Texas, and California, as well as Arizona residents from Tucson, Prescott, Flagstaff, Yuma, Sedona and the Greater Phoenix area.
